12 May 08 - Did you know? On hot summer days, the surface temperature of a green roof can be cooler than the air temperature, whereas the surface of a traditional rooftop can be up to 90°F (50°C) warmer. Green roofs therefore play an important role in reducing urban temperatures as the plants absorb heat and then use it through evapotranspiration.
