this panel was really frustrating. it felt like the assumption was that all landowners should all sell out our land to natural gas companies. what about the water table, and those who are only renting land or space, unable to have any control over their environment because they're lacking capital?
see my partner shira's photos from the meeting:

fortunately there are already some activists already organizing around these issues: call 607.280.6695, or email shaleshock-at-yahoo-dot-com, to get involved in action for our environment.

I really wish I could draw things without
having to see them at the same time. I can
see things in my mind fairly clearly but
can't get them on paper at all. That means I
could never be a cartoonist although I enjoy
it.

I'm not so good at it, myself - and this was
drawn in person and I *still* can't get my
drawings to look quite right! At a certain
point I decided I was just going to draw,
draw, draw, and put it all out there no
matter how bad it is. :) It's been pretty
liberating - sometimes the drawings I think
are the worst are the ones other people like
the best.

I think you have told your story well in this
drawing. How frustrated you must feel, I do
hope you eventually get a good outcome.

Thank you, gecko2007, for the well wishes.
I'm glad you dig the drawing. It is indeed
very frustrating! We didn't have any idea
this was going on when we moved here. At
least there's a lot of grassroots action
against it - we're getting more and more
involved in that, and it feels good to be in
the company of other folks who care about our
environment and our future.
